Goal:

Develop speed and agility for running backs coming out of the backfield

Drill Description:

Upon receiving toss or pass, running back is to run through set of obstacles before sprinting further down field.  Running back should run about 40 yards.  

Routine:

3 sets | 3-4 reps


Goal:

Develop lateral speed and explosion for running backs

Drill Description:

Lateral jump over line of bag 5-6 times and explode on last jump into sprint

Routine:

3 sets | 4-5 reps


Goal:

Develop lateral speed and explosion for running backs

Drill Description:

Lateral jump over line of bag 5-6 times and explode on last jump into sprint.  Make a move at the second level and keep sprinting

Routine:

3 sets | 4-5 reps


Five top running backs and receivers get together in Orange County, CA and work on their agility and speed in the open field. Do 4-5 sets of each exercise for about a 1hr workout. Work hard to get better.


Goal:

Develop vision and reaction speed for running backs in zone read

Drill Description:

Running back is to attack the gap and react to the defender's movement in the zone.  Can use 1 or multiple defenders.  

Routine:

10-12 reps
