Football Scouting Report: Mason Lane - Wisconsin's Versatile Football Phenom
Mason Lane, the rising star of Lodi High School's football team, is a name that's been making waves in Wisconsin's high school football scene. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 195 pounds, Lane is not your typical high school athlete. With a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, a 39.5-inch vertical leap, and a remarkable 10-foot broad jump, he possesses the kind of athleticism that turns heads on and off the field. But what truly sets Mason Lane apart is his versatility, earning him the title of Wisconsin's #1 Athlete.
A Multi-Talented Athlete
Mason Lane isn't confined to a single position on the football field; he's a true athlete in every sense. He's taken on various roles, including quarterback, safety, linebacker, and athlete. His adaptability and skill set allow him to excel in multiple positions, making him a dynamic force to be reckoned with.
Last season, Lane's impact was undeniable as he accounted for a staggering 1,398 rushing yards and 1,358 passing yards, ranking among the top 5 in the Capitol Conference for both categories. He found the end zone 20 times on the ground and delivered 11 touchdown passes with just five interceptions, boasting an impressive 62.1% completion rate.
A Coach's Dream
Mason Lane's talent has not gone unnoticed by his coach, Dave Puls. Coach Puls, who has been with the Lodi football program for 25 years, has described Lane as the best and most charismatic quarterback he's ever had the privilege of coaching. High praise, indeed!
With Lane entering his senior year, the Blue Devils have big plans. They aim to expand their offensive playbook to fully utilize their dual-threat quarterback's abilities. Rather than favoring a 60/40 run-heavy offense, Coach Puls is looking to achieve a more balanced attack this season.
The College Pursuit
Mason Lane's skills have not only attracted attention on the high school level but have also piqued the interest of college recruiters. Lane currently holds seven offers, including a Division I (FCS) offer from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Most of his other offers come from Division II schools in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. While Lane expresses a desire to stay close to home for college, he's keeping his options open until after both the football and wrestling seasons conclude.
As Lane and his senior class aim to make their mark, one thing is clear: Mason Lane is a name to remember in the world of high school football. His athleticism, versatility, and commitment to his team's success make him a player poised for greatness both on and off the field. Wisconsin's #1 Athlete is ready to take on whatever challenges come his way, and the future is undoubtedly bright for this young phenom.

Super proud of my guys these last 2 weeks! After a forfeit and a rescheduled homecoming game we got it done against MAoS. Then this week we played returning state champs and undefeated Columbus and got a huge 28-0 W! Back to work this week!
