Football: Coach Raul Lara Resigns From Warren High School
Legendary Long Beach Poly football Coach Raul Laura sent shockwaves through the football Southern California community when he announced that he is stepping down from Warren High School. Coach Lara’s impact on Warren High football was undeniable as they went from 0-10 to 7-1 in just two years under Lara. In the last 5 years, Lara had multiple playoff wins and a total record of 24-18-1.
Coach Lara, who was at Poly for 13 years, is known for winning twelve Moore league titles, five CIF Southern Section championships, and two state bowl appearances; that is more than any other coach in history.
What will happen to Warren football? With all of Lara’s success, who will be able to follow that? Also, how may athletes will transfer due to Lara’s departure? Warren High’s football future seems to be in the balance.
